Mr. Spencer joined the Board of Directors in September 2006. Mr. Spencer is a registered Certified Public Accountant in four states, and he was a Partner at Ernst & Young LLP (“EY”) where he spent more than 38 years until he retired in 2000. While at EY, Mr. Spencer was the partner in charge of the Firm’s life sciences practice for the Southeastern United States, and his clients included numerous publicly owned and privately held medical technology companies.

Since his retirement from EY, Mr. Spencer has served as the Audit Committee Chair on the Boards of ten other life sciences companies. He also served as the temporary Chief Financial Officer of a life sciences company while that company prepared for its initial public offering. In addition, he has served as a consultant to various companies with respect to financial accounting matters.

Mr. Spencer earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Syracuse University and an MBA degree at Babson College. He also attended the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
